	ENSAfrica Senior Associate Kathryn Abrahams said employers must give employees a contract and a list of their duties in writing.<br />

	“Things to consider when you employ employees; make sure you get right people with the right skills and check their criminal records.”<br />

	When firing employees, employers must have fair reasons for dismissing a person like the conduct of the employee, capacity of the employee and operational requirements of the employer’s business.<br />
	<br />
	“Dismissal will be unfair if the reason and procedure is not fair. Employers must know about how to employ and dismiss employees before they end up in CCMA where they will spend a lot of money.” She advised employers to register their employees because when the department of labour discovers that workers are not registered, they could charge the employer 10% penalty and 10% interests.</p>
