<p>NEW owners, new players and new technical team keen to take Alexandra United back to the top-flight football where it belongs. A new era has dawned in Alexandra United that has been struggling for the past two seasons under the watchful eye of Nick Nikolaou. The new light at Hope city giants is brought by new owner Aubrey Junior, who has purchased the majority shares at the club and renamed the club AJ Alexandra United. The new dawn has seen the club recruiting former Orlando Pirates legend Tebogo Moloi as the head coach and local coach Mxolisi Mngomezulu as the assistant coach. The former Chippa United coach has been entrusted with the mandate to return Alexandra United to glory days. Tshepo Modiba and Glenton khoza have also been retained by the team and the duo will add the much needed experience in the team having been with the team for the longest time. For the first time in the history of the club, it boasts 80 percent of local players having kept seven players that played for United last season and more younger stars from Alexandra.</p>

<p>Despite the new dawn, Alexandra United suffered a 4-2 defeat to Orange Vaal professional in the first match of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe league on Saturday at Balfour Park. AJ Alexandra united will travel to Tembisa to face La-masia on Saturday to compete in the Nedbank Cup last 32 preliminary round. In the other results, Baberwa Football Club corrected the wrongs of last season by starting the season with a bang. The royals defeated Pretoria Callies 2-1 in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe league on Saturday at Alexandra Stadium. Baberwa head coach Thulani Ntshingila said, “the first half was good for us as we managed to score two goals and it went according to the plan; but the second half the boys switched off and allowed the opposition to play,” “We conceded a soft goal and that gave the opposition confidence, but it’s early in the season, we will fix the problems,” said Thulani Ntshingila Baberwa FC will travel to Tembisa to play at the Tembisa Sports Centre in the Nedbank Cup preliminary round. The winner of the top fo ur will proceed the next round of the preliminary round and eventually reach the last 32 round. #ABCgamechangers</p>
